Non-local behavior

  • another way of saying non-ideal spatial resolution
  • consider the following nuclear medicine example:
  • the above figure shows a nuc med collimator/detector
  • a single point on the image receptor may recieve signal from a finite range of angles between the limits shown
  • consider two separate objects within the range of angles
  • these two objects may be blurred together on the image
  • the objects plotted together intrinsically should look like this:
